(50 x 60cm.) Executed in 1993, this work is number four from an edition of twenty-five.

Yet another show that opened in New York this weekend that I missed (the others are listed here)! Hiroshi Sugimoto is one of my favorite contemporary photographers and I wish I were able to go visit The Day After, his new solo show at The Pace Gallery.

Phillips de Pury tends to do a great job when it comes to curating their Theme sales and Photographs on October 8 was no exception. I’ve included my ten favorite lots here in this post.
Several are also mentioned in tasj vol ii - issue iii, which you should all receive in the mail soon. This issue actually has a marked focus on Phillips as it includes an interview with George O’Dell, one of their contemporary art specialists, as part of our Backstage Series. I hope you enjoy it - I think it’s a really interesting peek into the inner workings of the auction house.
